Will you cover difference between tuition minus GI Bill and cost of in state "state" school tuition? Or do you want to keep it to in-state residents? Veterans who live in (or relocate to) the South Dakota can apply for a residency appeal based on their Veteran status. Active duty personnel, and their dependents, who are stationed in the state of South Dakota may receive instate residency as well. Online or distance education classes do not charge a different rate for non-residents.

Do you want to donate additional money to each applicant should the need arise?  No.

All majors open to Marines? Yes.

Recognize AA degree or any college course work: Yes, but each class is evaluated on a case-by-case.

Recognize awarding of college credits via alternative means, e.g., DANTES or CLEP:  We will award, case by case, on DANTES, CLEP, AP, Military Experience (Form DD 214), Military Experience (ACE Transcripts – AARTS, SMART, CCAF).  See reference:

General Requirements


  • Achieve an ACT composite score of 21 or above (SAT 990) 
  • Earn a grade point average of at least 2.6 (4.0 scale) in all high school courses
  • Rank in the upper 50% of your high school graduating class

High School Coursework Requirements


  • 4 years of English
    OR ACT English sub-test score of 21 or above OR AP English score of 3 or above

  • 3 years of Advanced Mathematics
    OR ACT Math sub-test score of 23 or above OR AP Calculus score of 3 or above

  • 3 years of Laboratory Science
    OR ACT Science Reasoning sub-test score of 20 or above OR AP Science score of 3 or above

  • 3 years of Social Science
    OR ACT Social Studies/Reading sub-test score of 20 or above OR AP Social Studies score of 3 or above

  • 1 year Fine Arts
    OR AP Fine Arts score of 3 or above
